Privacy policy

Lafferty's Coaching ("we", "us") is a sole-trader football coaching business based in Rugby, Warwickshire, run by Mike Lafferty. We are the data controller for the personal information described in this policy. This policy explains what we collect, why, and what your rights are.

What we collect

• Enquiries: when you use the enquiry form or email us, we receive your name, contact details, the player's age and anything you choose to tell us.
• Players and parents/guardians: once a player joins, we collect the player's name, date of birth, any medical information or additional needs you tell us about, emergency contact details, and photo/video consent preferences.
• Payments: payment records (amounts, dates). We do not see or store card or bank details; these are handled by our payment provider.

Why we use it

• To reply to your enquiry and arrange sessions (our legitimate interest and, once you sign up, to perform our contract with you).
• To run sessions safely, knowing who is attending, any medical needs, and who to call in an emergency (legitimate interest and, for health information, your explicit consent).
• To take payments and keep the records we are legally required to keep.
• To let you know about session changes, cancellations or new availability.

We will not send marketing emails or add you to any mailing list unless you ask us to, and we never sell your information.

Children's information

We only collect information about children from their parent or guardian. Photos or videos of players are only taken and shared (for example in a parents' WhatsApp group or on social media) with the parent or guardian's consent, which can be withdrawn at any time.

Who we share it with

We use a small number of trusted services to run the business: our website host (Netlify) to deliver enquiries to us, our email provider (Apple iCloud Mail), WhatsApp for messaging existing parents, and our payment provider to collect payments. Each of these processes data on our behalf under their own privacy terms. We do not share your information with anyone else unless required by law or to protect a child's safety.

How long we keep it

Enquiries that don't lead to a booking are deleted within 12 months. Player and parent records are kept while the player attends sessions and for up to 12 months afterwards, except for payment records, which we must keep for 6 years for tax purposes.

Your rights

You can ask to see the information we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, or object to how we use it. Contact us at Mikelaff95@icloud.com. If you're not happy with how we've handled your data you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.

Terms & conditions

These terms apply to all 1-2-1 and group coaching sessions provided by Lafferty's Coaching. By booking a session you agree to them.

Booking and payment

• Places are confirmed once payment is received. We'll send payment details (bank transfer) after your enquiry.
• Group sessions are a monthly membership of £30, paid in advance. Membership includes one group session per week, in your child's age group, for the month that has been paid for.
• 1-2-1 sessions (£15 for 30 minutes, £20 for 45 minutes, £25 for 1 hour) are paid in advance of each session.
• Prices are shown on the website and may change with reasonable notice. Existing bookings will be honoured at the price agreed.

Cancellations

• Group sessions: please let Mike know if your child is unable to attend a session. Missed sessions within a paid month are not refunded.
• 1-2-1 sessions: please give as much notice as you can if you need to cancel or move a session, and we'll rearrange where possible.
• By us: if we have to cancel (for example because of weather, pitch conditions or coach illness) we'll let you know as early as possible and offer an alternative date or a credit.
• Ending a group membership: just let Mike know before the next month's payment is due, so that your child's space can be offered to another child the following month.

What we expect at sessions

• Players should arrive on time, with appropriate footwear, shin pads, weather-appropriate clothing and a drink.
• Everyone, players, parents and coaches alike, is expected to live by our values: try your best, have fun, show respect.
• A parent or guardian must remain at the session for children aged 6 and under. Parents of older children are welcome to stay if they wish. All parents must be contactable throughout the session.
• We may ask a player to sit out or leave a session if their behaviour is putting themselves or others at risk.

Health, injury and liability

• Football is a physical activity. Please tell us about any medical conditions, injuries or additional needs before the first session and keep us updated.
• Our coach is trained in football first aid and will provide first aid where necessary; by booking you consent to this and to emergency services being called if needed.
• We hold public liability insurance. We are not responsible for loss or damage to personal belongings.

Photos and video

We only take or share photos and video of players with parental consent, which you can give or withdraw at any time.

Safeguarding

The safety and wellbeing of every child who trains with us comes first. Our safeguarding commitments:

• Our coach holds an Enhanced DBS check and has completed the FA Safeguarding Children and Safeguarding for All courses, plus FA first aid, concussion and sudden cardiac arrest training.
• We follow The FA's safeguarding guidance and Respect codes of conduct.
• Sessions take place in open, visible spaces. A coach will never be alone with a child out of sight of others.
• We communicate with parents and guardians, not directly with children, and only through the contact details you have given us.
• Photos and video are only taken with consent and are never shared publicly without it.
• Any safeguarding concern will be taken seriously, recorded and, where appropriate, reported to the Birmingham County FA safeguarding team and the local authority.

Cookies

This website does not use analytics or advertising cookies, and does not track you. The only things loaded from third parties are the fonts (Google Fonts) and, when you submit the enquiry form, our website host (Netlify), which processes the form. Neither sets cookies used to identify you. If we add analytics in future we'll update this page and ask for your consent first.
